Dona had spent a decade writing brand narrative, starting in journalism. The fame never pulled her — speaking for people did. Her whole career has answered one question: how do you sit close to someone's truth and translate it without losing it?
Nik had been building systems for everyone else. In April 2023 he sat down to build one for himself — a multi-perspective thinking framework, Pattern Space. None of us knew yet that it was a methodology, or that we'd become a methodology firm. April 2023, Agency 273 began — Gru 1.0.
Every other agency handed you a deck and a department for each piece, and by the time the work converged no one could tell if it had. We said: stop. Whatever you need, we get it done — from us or our network. But the table stays one table.
In 2024 we started using AI, and learned the real work was making it speak in our voice, not its own — that became the Cockpit we fly today. The table grew Circles. We were never a vendor: we work with you, not for you. That's Gru 3.0 — the version we're shipping now.
